NYC Marathon in Wearable AR
What if you could see a 3D map in your 3D world?
Augmented reality (AR) can do things that no other medium can: like floating a detailed 2.6-mile Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge right in front of you. Then instantly swapping it for a 1.4-mile Queensboro Bridge.
The Challenge Runners Face
Runners preparing for the New York City Marathon need to understand what they'll face on the course's four major climbs. Mile one hits you with a 150-foot climb over the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge!
Maps and elevation charts can't show you what that really means.
AR Solves What Maps Can't
That's why we built the NYC Marathon's major climbs as 3D spatial models in AR. Walk closer to the 3D map. Move around it and see the Verrazzano Bridge rising 150 feet, taller than the buildings, as it spans the waters separating Brooklyn and Staten Island.
This can only exist in AR—no 2D screen or map can replicate the spatial experience.
Building the Future
Through our strategic partnership with Neurun Inc—the leader in fitness AI and creators of Run Concierge—we built all four elevation challenges for Spectacles AR glasses. We debuted it at the NYC Marathon Expo in November 2025.
Reality Lab brings 30 years of professional storytelling to this new medium. We understand AR's unique capabilities and create experiences that can only exist in this medium.
We're building the future of AR.
